Through the invitation of Sylvie Ganter & Christophe Cervsael (creators and founders), I attended the preview of the Spring collection from the Atelier Cologne with fellow GoodSmella Carlos Powell. I did not know what to expect but I knew if Atelier Cologne was releasing new scents for Spring, they would be brilliantly composed as I come to expect from the brand. Upon arrival to the event, I dove straight into the Spring collection for testing from the excitement. The collection consists of four fragrances (Mandarine Glaciale, Sud Magnolia, Figuier Ardent, and Cedre Atlas), each with their own theme and ideas of inspiration. I slowly went through the line to see how they are and perhaps see if there's something I would enjoy for myself. Overall, all of the scents were perceived positively and are lovely composed; there were no scents that I would say are polarizing at all. From the current collection, the Cedre Atlas and Mandarine Glaciale stood out for me as favorites thus far. This was just based only on skin testing at the event and some time later at home through what was still lingering on my skin from the event. As I was going through the line, Cedre Atlas was the last fragrance tested and it just peeked my interest right away. There is uniqueness to it that I haven't smelled quite like this before in a fragrance. Initially, there is sharpness to the scent that I didn't expect but it calms rather shortly. The citrus and woody aspects are upfront and center, shining throughout the heart of the scent. Top lemon from Sicily, bergamot from Calabria, blackcurrant bud from Burgundy Heart cedarwood from Moroccan rif, jasmine from Egypt, apricot Base white amber, papyrus from India, vetiver from Haiti The Mandarine Glaciale was another scent that drew interest for me while testing as I kept going back to it. Application of the scent on the skin gives a bright burst of mandarin peel with vetiver supporting right behind it. As the heart opens up, the mandarin calms and the smooth buttery vetiver appears more prominently. The vetiver is supported by a slight spiciness and perhaps some other citrus notes. Top mandarin from Calabria, lemon from Sicily, bergamot from Calabria Heart ginger from China, jasmine from Egypt, petitgrain from Paraguay Base heart of vetiver from Haiti, oakmoss from Slovenia, white amber |
At the moment the new Spring collection only comes in 7.5ml spray, 30ml travel spray, and 100ml spray bottles, priced at $25, $85, $125 accordingly.
Overall, I can see this Spring collection being very popular in the upcoming spring and summer months. These scents provide an uplifting attitude and longevity that is often difficult to find in a perfume world. In my opinion, Atelier Cologne once again did not disappoint me with their release and I'm looking forward to what else is yet to come from this brand in the future.
While at the event, I also revisited Silver Iris and I forgot how beautiful it is. I remember enjoying it at prior release event but completely forgot about it. This is the type lively iris I really enjoy in a fragrance and I kept sniffing my hand after the event so many times. Iris in Silver Iris shines and sparkles with supporting notes that provide volume. This has been placed on my buy-list and I can't not wait to have it in my collection soon.
